School matinees

A completed online School Matinee Booking Form is required before a booking can be processed. Seats cannot be held without a completed form.

• Bookings are processed in the order completed forms are received.
• A booking is not confirmed until NUOVA issues an invoice.
• A non-refundable 20% deposit is required to secure the booking. Unless another deadline is provided in your confirmation, the deposit must be received within two weeks of the invoice date. If it is not received, NUOVA may release the seats.
• School matinee tickets are $15 per student. A $15 administrative fee applies to each order.
• Two complimentary supervisor tickets are provided per 25 students. Additional supervisor tickets are paid tickets.
• A minimum of 10 students is required to qualify for a school booking.
• Bookings must be made by an accredited school, recognized educational institution, or home-school organization.
• Final payment is due on the Friday two weeks before the performance unless another deadline is stated in your booking confirmation. A 10% monthly late fee may apply to balances unpaid 30 days after the performance.
• If a performance reaches capacity, we will contact you about a waitlist or other available options.
• Bookings made close to the performance date may receive alternate deposit, confirmation, and payment deadlines from NUOVA’s Operations Manager.

Interested in a NUOVA production without a school matinee currently scheduled? Email operations@nuovavocalarts.ca with your school name, contact information, and estimated student count.

• All requests for changes must be submitted in writing to operations@nuovavocalarts.ca.
• Adjustments should remain within 15% of the original booking.
• Final numbers must be confirmed by the Friday two weeks before your performance unless another deadline is stated in your confirmation.
• After the final confirmation deadline, reductions in attendance are non-refundable.
• No refunds are provided for student or supervisor no-shows.
• Cancellations within one week of the performance cannot normally be refunded unless NUOVA is able to resell the tickets to another school group.
• The 20% booking deposit is non-refundable.

If your school experiences exceptional circumstances, please contact the Operations Manager to discuss available options.

• Physical tickets are not issued for school matinees. NUOVA’s Front of House team will have your school name and confirmed attendance numbers on the performance-day guest list.
• A designated supervisor should check in with Front of House on arrival and provide an accurate attendance count for seating and emergency procedures.
• Areas of the theatre may be reserved for school groups, but specific seats are assigned based on group size, accessibility requirements, and overall attendance.
• If members of your group arrive in separate vehicles, please gather the full group before joining the seating line whenever possible. Groups may be split if a row or section fills.
• Supervisors should be distributed throughout the student group rather than seated together.
• Please wait for direction from NUOVA’s Front of House team before entering the theatre.

Once a performance has begun, latecomers—or patrons who leave the theatre during the performance—may be required to wait before returning to their seats.

To minimize disruption to performers and the audience, Front of House staff will admit patrons only at an appropriate break in the performance. Re-admission timing is determined by Front of House in consultation with Stage Management.

• Children under the age of 5 cannot be admitted to NUOVA school matinee performances unless otherwise specifically stated.
• If a child below the permitted age is unable to enter the theatre, the ticket is not eligible for a refund.
• NUOVA’s age and content recommendations are provided as guidance for educators. Teachers and administrators are encouraged to consider the needs and maturity of their individual students.

The Orange Hub Theatre is located at 10045 156 Street NW, Edmonton.

A loading area is available for school-bus drop-off near the building. Parking for smaller vehicles is available in the parkade connected to the Orange Hub, with additional street parking in the surrounding area.

Registered schools will receive arrival information closer to the performance with recommended entrances, drop-off procedures, and check-in instructions.

Unlike a movie, the artists on stage can see and hear their audience. That relationship is one of the things that makes live theatre extraordinary. Please review these expectations with students and supervisors before arriving.

• Supervisors should spread themselves throughout the student group so they can assist when needed.
• Please respect the theatre, lobby, furniture, and facilities.
• Photography, video recording, and audio recording are prohibited during the performance.
• Phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices should be silenced and put away.
• Devices that emit distracting light or sound are not permitted during the performance.
• Please avoid talking or unnecessary movement while performers are on stage.
• Bags and personal belongings must be kept out of aisles and walkways.
• Please do not stand on seats, climb on railings, or place feet on theatre furnishings.
• Audience members must never throw objects, enter the performance space, or otherwise interfere with the production.
• Food is not permitted inside the theatre. School groups may use designated lobby areas when available.
• Patrons whose behaviour substantially disrupts the performance or compromises the safety of others may be asked to leave the theatre.

If students or supervisors in your group have mobility, sensory, hearing, visual, medical, or other accessibility needs, please tell us when completing your booking form. Advance information allows our team to make appropriate seating and arrival arrangements wherever possible.

If someone attending uses a wheelchair, please indicate whether they intend to remain in their wheelchair during the performance or would prefer to transfer to a theatre seat. If your group needs to leave before the performance concludes, let us know in advance so we can arrange seating near an exit where possible.

Scent-Free Facility: The Orange Hub is a scent-free facility. For the safety and comfort of patrons with allergies and scent sensitivities, students, educators, and supervisors are asked to refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or other strongly scented products.
