The 2026 National Vocal Arts Festival

In partnership with MacEwan University, Department of Theatre. This year, come experience the Vocal Arts Festival, featuring:

  • Così fan tutte, Mozart’s sparkling comedy reimagined in the Canadian Rockies, directed by Rob Herriot, conducted by Gordon Gerrard, at the Capitol Theatre, Fort Edmonton Park.
  • Brigadoon, a timeless tale of love beyond time, directed by Kim Mattice Wanat, at the Orange Hub Theatre
  • Speed Dating Tonight!, Michael Ching’s contemporary comic opera, directed by Benjamin Smith, at the Tucker Amphitheatre, Citadel Theatre
  • Downtown Pop-Up Performances across Edmonton’s Downtown core
  • Concerts at the Edmonton Public Library & Muttart Conservatory
  • Two Dinner Cabarets, An Acoustic Coffee House, Masterclasses, and much more!

This year’s festival brings together Canada’s most exciting emerging vocalists and musical theatre artists for a celebration of artistry, discovery, and live performance.

Così fan tutte
June 18th – 21st, 2026
Mozart’s sparkling comedy about love and human nature unfolds against the breathtaking backdrop of the Canadian wilderness. Così fan tutte is reimagined at an elegant 1930s resort hotel on the edge of untamed landscape, performed at the historic Capitol Theatre, Fort Edmonton Park.

Fun Home
October 1-4, 2026
Winner of five Tony Awards, Fun Home is a moving, funny, and deeply human musical based on Alison Bechdel’s celebrated graphic memoir. As an adult, Alison looks back on her childhood, her relationship with her brilliant and complicated father, and the moments that shaped her understanding of family and identity. Moving between memory and the present, Fun Home captures the joy, confusion, humour, and heartbreak of trying to know the people closest to us.

Class Act Program
July 26, 2026
Interested in triple-threat training? Young performers ages 9–17 are invited to audition for NUOVA’s year-long musical theatre program, featuring focused training in acting, singing, and dance with experienced industry professionals. Build your skills, grow your confidence, and perform in a fully staged production of Oliver! in Winter 2027. Programs are nearly full, with only a few spots remaining.

Two celebrated performers. Two talented sisters. One Vermont inn in need of a Christmas miracle. features some of the most beloved songs in the American musical theatre canon, including “Blue Skies,” “Sisters,” “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep” and the timeless title song. Set within the historic Capitol Theatre at Fort Edmonton Park and filled with romance, sparkling comedy and dazzling dance, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is a joyful celebration of friendship, generosity and the magic of gathering together.

Surrounded by cascading light and lush displays of golden hydrangeas, Canada’s leading emerging vocal artists from the NUOVA Vocal Arts Festival offer an acoustic performance of luminous clarity and warmth, revealing the beauty of song in its most unadorned form.
